The vibrant heritage and multi-cultural lifestyle of Trinidad and Tobago will be on show from July 29 to August 4 as the 11th annual Travel Professionals of Color (TPOC) Conference, for only the second time in its history, is hosted outside of the United States.

Authenticated as a TPOC heritage destination in 2011, the Caribbean’s culture capital won the bid to host the conference following a successful showing at the May 2012 edition of the event, which included a gala dinner and cultural show organized by the Trinidad and Tobago Convention Bureau (TTCB) where guests enjoyed a taste of local steelpan music, culture, history, and cuisine.

The TTCB, which embraced the opportunity to partner with TPOC in hosting the conference, has already started preparations for a dynamic and engaging conference program, designed to immerse delegates in the artifacts and legacy of the destination’s culture and history.

As the premiere networking and business forum for minority travel professionals, the TPOC conference facilitates training and assists industry professionals in reaching the multicultural travel community. It also provides exceptional access to hundreds of minority travel agency owners, managers, independent contractors, and sales representatives with the potential to sell Trinidad and Tobago to thousands of travelers.

In capitalizing on the opportunity afforded by the hosting of this conference, the TTCB and by extension the Tourism Development Company Limited, remains committed to the development of Trinidad and Tobago as a TPOC-awarded heritage destination.

At the TPOC 2011 Heritage Conference held in Louisville, Kentucky, Trinidad and Tobago’s Consul General for Miami, Dr. Anil Ramnanan, received the TPOC award of authentication and certification on behalf of the country.

Trinidad and Tobago received the award after a year-long authentication and certification process which comprised site visits and the conduct of Heritage Training Workshops by TPOC’s heritage team on site in Trinidad. The certification allows TPOC to market the destination through their affiliated agents. For more information please visit www.tdc.co.tt.
