Les créneaux Alitalia doivent être mis à disposition pour un appel d'offres avec un appel d'offres européen - c'est ce que les dirigeants de Ryanair ont demandé dans une lettre envoyée aux ministres Stefano Patuanelli (Développement économique) et Paola De Micheli (Infrastructure et transports), profitant de la recommandation de l'UE sur la vente transparente de tous les atouts de l'ancienne Alitalia.
La compagnie aérienne irlandaise à bas prix s'intéresse aux créneaux horaires des aéroports de Milan Linate et Rome Fiumicino. Un vif intérêt pour ces créneaux s'était manifesté au cours des deux dernières années par des fréquentations répétées et maintenant confirmé dans la lettre adressée au gouvernement italien.
Les enjeux sont très élevés tant pour Ryanair, en forte baisse après la crise du COVID-19, et pour le passage d'Alitalia à Newco ITA (Italia Trasporto Aereo), qui doit décoller le plus rapidement possible et dans les meilleures conditions d'exploitation.
